Eagle boys 2nd, girls 4th at Pleasanton tourney
PLEASANTON -- Uniontown's boys finished in second place at the Pleasanton Mid-Season Tournament following an 81-38 loss to top-seeded Humboldt here Friday night.
Humboldt improved to 9-2 on the season while Uniontown dropped to 5-7. No other information was available at press time.
Central Heights won the third-place game over Pleasanton, 77-41. Marmaton Valley defeated Altoona-Midway for fifth place, 50-32.
Uniontown's girls fell to Humboldt in the third-place game, 48-40. Shalina Harper scored 19 points for the Eagles (2-10). She also had 8 rebounds. Holly Shinn added 15 points while Megan Smith picked up 5 steals.
"The girls gave a solid effort tonight but we fell short," Eagle head coach Dustin Miller said. "We have definitely made improvements since facing Humboldt early in the season. The Pleasanton tournament was good for us. It revealed to us the areas in which we have gotten better and where we need to improve."
Central Heights' girls won the championship game over Pleasanton, 39-23. Marmaton Valley defeated Midway for fifth place, 57-16.
