Fort Scott High School saw two of its coaches honored with Southeast Kansas League Coach of the Year awards for their respective fall sports earlier this month. Tracey Bogina (left) was honored in a vote of the cross-country coaches. Carol Bingesser was picked by the league's volleyball coaches.
Both coaches felt the award was even more special than it already was as other teams won the league championships in their sports and that it reflected the coaches' respect for their work. Bogina's girls' team finished third and the boys' placed fourth. Bingesser's volleyball squad was the league runner-up to Chanute.
In a related note, Bingesser's son, Jon, announced earlier this week that he was becoming the head volleyball coach at Highland Community College. He previously served as head coach at Northeast-Arma and was head coach at Salina South this past season. (Scott Nuzum/Tribune)
