FSMS eighth-grade girls finish second in Parsons tournament

PARSONS -- Fort Scott Middle School's eighth-grade "A" team finished in second place at a tournament here Saturday.

The Tigers began with a 31-24 win over Chanute-Royster. Alaina Allen scored 10 points for Fort Scott while Abby Humble added 6. FSMS outrebounded Royster, 33-31, with Humble grabbing 13 boards.

The Tigers led 3-0 after one period and 13-7 at the half.

Independence defeated Fort Scott in the championship game, 20-19, even though the Tigers outscored the Bulldogs 5-0 in the fourth quarter and outrebounded them in the game, 32-17.

Humble led the Tigers with 8 points and 15 rebounds.

All of Fort Scott's teams concluded their seasons at home against Parsons on Monday.
