Wanda Lee Savage
Wanda Lee Savage, age 68, resident of Fort Scott, Kan., died Monday, Oct. 6, 2014, at the Mercy Hospital Emergency Room. She was born July 29, 1946, in Warrensburg, Mo., the daughter of Orville Washington and Ella Mae Virginia Lindsay Grant. She married Leon Savage in Fort Scott. She enjoyed playing mother to everyone and cooking good tasty food. She doubled for Big Mabel in the Learning Tree and was queen for the 21 African American Club. She served as Chaplain for the American Legion in 2011. Wanda worked for Mercy Hospital in central supply, the Downtowner, and Key Industries.
Survivors include her special friend of the last few years, Douglas Brown; three children, LaDonna Grant Keiser and husband Kenneth Robert, Shawn Grant and friend Hilary, Margo Grant Davis and husband Wendell; three brothers, Charles Albert Lindsay and wife Anedra, Reuben Eugene Grant and friend Brenda, and William Maurice Graham and wife Donna; three sisters, LaVonne Grant Bonds and husband Larry, Willa Mae Grant Adam and husband Bill, and Rhoda Khalaf and husband Khaled; 11 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by Chester and Irene Hall, Bernice and Franklin Powell, Mary Delores Willard, Charles Lee and Shirley Hall, Mama Ella Mae Virginia "Nannie" Grant and Daddy Orville Washington Grant.
Pastor Scott Moore will conduct funeral services at 1 p.m. Friday, Oct. 10, at the Cheney Witt Chapel. Burial will follow in the Evergreen Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to the Wanda Savage Memorial fund and may be left in care of the Cheney Witt Chapel, PO Box 347, 201 S. Main, Fort Scott, KS 66701.
