Buena Carolyn Baird
Buena Carolyn Baird, 92, of Fort Scott, died Thursday, Sept. 25, 2014 at Mercy Hospital. She was born Sept. 23, 1922 in Fort Scott, the daughter of Dr. John Michael and Hazel Marie Bower, Warren. She married Charles George Baird July 20, 1947 in Girard, Kan., He preceded her in death on Sept. 14, 2005.
She was owner operator of Clay Benders Pottery, a member of Alpha Sigma Alpha Sorority at Pittsburg State University, she was an avid horseman, and enjoyed organic gardening.
She is survived by three daughters; Peggy Fisher of Fort Scott, Rhonda Culp of Fort Worth, Texas, and Carol Hunziker of Fort Scott, three grandchildren; Lori Storm, Joe Kasselman and Dylan Culp, and several great grandchildren and nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, George, she was preceded in death by her parents, a son; Charlie Baird, two grandchildren; Jill Kasselman and Drew Pelzer, a brother; Dr. Dale Warren and two sisters; Nona Jones and Imogene Carrieri.
Funeral services for Buena Baird will be 10 a.m., Monday, Sept. 29, 2014 at the Konantz-Cheney Funeral Home. Burial will be in the Fort Scott National Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m., Sunday, Sept. 28, 2014 at the Konantz-Cheney Funeral Home.
