Sara Borthick Gilmore

Sara Borthick Gilmore, 86, formerly of Fort Scott, passed away peacefully in La Veta, Colo., on Monday, Sept. 15, 2014. She was born Dec. 15, 1927 in Fort Scott, Kan., the daughter of Gola Hiram and Georgia Lee (Needham) Roberts. In 1947, she married Gilbert Borthick, who passed away in 1988. In 1992, she married Warren Gilmore, who passed away in 2003.

Sara is survived by her children, Sandy Borthick of La Veta, Colo., Jeff Borthick of Ridgeland, S.C, Kyle Borthick and wife Karen of Aurora, Colo., Kate Gilmore of Baton Rouge, La., and Mike Gilmore and wife Bridget of Lakeland, Fla., and three grandchildren, Carl Eric Swenson, Ryan Philip Borthick, and Emily Gilmore. In addition to her two husbands, Sara was also preceded in death by her parents, and her sister, Mary Sue (Roberts) Schasteen.

A graveside service for Sara will be held 12 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 24, 2014 at the Evergreen Cemetery in Fort Scott with a visitation prior to services beginning at 11 a.m. at the Konantz-Cheney Funeral Home, 15 West Wall St. Condolences may be emailed to expressions@konantz-cheney.com.
