Loren Dean Ward

Loren Dean Ward, age 84, a former resident of Uniontown, died Tuesday, Sept. 9 at the Guest Home Estates in Fort Scott, Kan. He was born May 5, 1930, in Beaver, Okla., the son of Homer Ward and Susie Smith Ward. Loren had worked for the fire department in Englewood, Colo., for many years and had retired as fire chief. He married Lucile Shepard on March 8, 2003, in Texas.

Survivors include his wife, Lucile, of the home in Uniontown; a brother, Jerry Ward, Castle Rock, Colo.; a step-daughter, Sharon Sparks, Mesa, Ariz.; a step-daughter-in-law, Donna Jo Hausman, Brandon, S.D., as well as numerous extended family members. He was preceded in death by his parents and a stepson, Brad Simmons.

There was cremation. A private family memorial service with burial in the Uniontown Cemetery will take place at a later date. Services were under the direction of the Cheney Witt Chapel, 201 S. Main, Fort Scott, Kan. Words of remembrance may be submitted to the online guestbook at cheneywitt.com.
