Carolyn Evaleen Evel
Carolyn Evaleen Evel, 74, went home to her Lord and Savior on Wednesday, Aug. 27, 2014. She was born in Parsons, Kan., on Dec. 20, 1939. She was raised on a farm near St. Paul, Kan., and graduated from Erie High School in 1957. She graduated from Baker University in 1961. On Oct. 13, 1962 she married Dale Roy Evel in Erie, Kan. They farmed near Arnold, Kan., where they chose to adopt six children. After retiring from the farm in 1988, they made their home in Hutchinson. Carolyn was a Medical Technician in Ness City and Hutchinson. Her husband Dale passed away March 9, 2006 and she moved to Erie in 2010.
She is survived by her children; Polly (Brent) Foust, Colwich, Kan., Keith (Karla) Evel, La Crosse, Kan., Robert Evel, Bazine, Kan., Jenny (Steve) Masterson, Wichita, Kan., Nathan Evel, Hutchison, Kan., four sisters; Marilyn Barker, Fort Scott, Kan., Jackie Sexton, Parsons, Kan., Edwina Brennan, Erie, Kan., Betty Collins, Parsons, Kan., a sister-in-law, Gwen Tarvin, Butler, Mo., eight grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, her son, Patrick Dale Evel, her brother, David Tarvin and two grandchildren.
A funeral service was held Saturday, Aug. 30, at Penwell-Gabel Funeral Home with Quintin Moore presiding. Burial followed at Penwell-Gabel Cemetery in Hutchinson, Kan.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, Sept. 6 at 11 a.m. at Shaw Christian Church, Northwest of Erie, Kan. Memorials may be given to Friends of Tri-Valley, PO Box 15, Chanute, KS, 66720
