Audrey Jean Ellmer
Audrey Jean Ellmer, age 84, a resident of Fort Scott, Kan., died early Monday, Sept. 1, 2014, at the Mercy Hospital in Fort Scott. She was born April 15, 1930, in Mildred, Kan., the daughter of Charles E. Haberbosch and Ruby H. Wedell Haberbosch. Audrey graduated from Moran High School in 1948. She later graduated from Clark School of Business in Topeka, Kan. Following completion of business school, Audrey was employed by John Morrell Meat Company and later the United States Air Force Supply Depot and as an office assistant for the State of Kansas. She later moved to Chicago where she was employed by Wilson Sporting Good and later for American Steel Treating in McHenry, Ill. She returned to this area in 1976, and was employed by Othick Abstract Company and then by Mercy Hospital as office manager for the Home Health Division. In addition, she worked part time as an office assistant for Buck Run Community Center for nearly 30 years. She was a member of Community Christian Church. She was also a member of the Rebekah Lodge. She enjoyed crocheting and donated many items to Mercy Hospital.
Survivors include a sister, Hallie Cannon, of Fort Scott; seven nephews and several great-nieces and great-nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and brothers, Lyle and Carol Haberbosch and another infant brother.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, Sept. 5 at the Cheney Witt Chapel. Following funeral services, there will be cremation and private burial will take place at a later date in the Fairview Cemetery east of Mildred, Kan. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, at the Cheney Witt Chapel.
