James Joseph Kramer

James Joseph Kramer, age 74, a resident of Fort Scott, died Saturday, Aug. 2 at his home. He was born Sept. 16, 1939, in Fort Scott, Kan., the son of James Franklin Kramer and Mamie Francis Taiclet Kramer. He married Cecelia Killion Key on March 12, 2005, at Fort Scott. He served with the United States Army and the Kansas Army National Guard from 1957 to 1962. Jim had worked as a supervisor for Cullor Redi Mix for 16 years and retired in 2003. Jim enjoyed country western music and movies and enjoyed trips to Branson, Mo. He also liked woodworking and animals of all kinds. He was a member of the Church of Christ at 15th and Crawford streets.

Survivors include his wife, Cecelia, of the home; two sons, Tommy Kramer and wife, Sandi, Nolanville, Texas and Steven Kramer, Lawrence, Kan.; two daughters, Connie Wehmeyer and husband, Mark, Mission, Kan., and Shelley Morrison and husband, Bob, Nevada, Mo.; a stepson, Brian Key and wife, Valorie, Carbondale, Kan., and a step-daughter, Brenda Rice and husband, Bobby, Chanute, Kan.; seven grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, six step-grandchildren and nine step-great-grandchildren. Also surviving is a brother, Bill Kramer and wife, Norma, Fort Scott and a sister, Mary Lou Mayberry, Parsons, Kan., as well as several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers, John, Charlie, and Leslie Kramer and Bob Greene; and two sisters, Patricia Riley and Doreen Morrell.

Pastor Steve Porter will conduct funeral services at 1:30 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 7 at the First Southern Baptist Church in Fort Scott. Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the Cheney Witt Chapel. Memorials are suggested to the Alzheimer's Association and may be left in care of the Cheney Witt Chapel, 201 S.
