There are 53 participants in the summer tennis program for youth in second through 12th grade. Barr said it's important for youth to have a good experience in the program. Tom Robertson, Fort Scott Recreation director, said the participation in the program increased this year. Following four weeks of lessons, the tournament continues today at the high school courts. Barr is also the Fort Scott High School tennis coach.
