Wilma Eck

Wilma Eck, 84, of rural Girard, Kan., died at her home, Saturday morning, June 28, 2014. She was born Dec. 17, 1929 in Dennis, the daughter of Frank Gilbert and Dessie Jane (Corell) Rea. She married Joseph Daniel Eck June 2, 1949 in Mound City, Kan. He preceded her in death July 24, 2013.

Wilma grew up in Dennis and graduated from Dennis High School in 1948. She attended the Parsons Church of God.

Wilma is survived by two daughters, Janice Eck of Girard, Kan., and Debra J. Howard of Rockport, Texas; a son, Daniel J. Eck of Liberal, Mo.; a brother, Bill W. Rea of Oswego, Kan.; six grandchildren, Jeremiah and Joshua Eck, Ben Howard, Lucinda Carrel, Olivia Kiel, and Marion Eck; five great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, Joseph, Wilma was also preceded in death by her parents, five brothers, Donald, Harold, Cecil, Loren, and Albert Rea; two sisters, Thelma Medsker, and Myrtle Hudkison, and a grandson, John D. Eck Jan. 17, 2003.

Elder James Horner will conduct graveside services at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, July 2, 2014 at the Farlington Cemetery in Farlington, Kan., under the direction of Konantz-Cheney Funeral Home.
