Hon. George S. Reynolds

Hon. George S. Reynolds, 95, of Wichita died Sunday, June 15, 2014 in Wichita. He was born on Nov. 4, 1918 in Valier, Mont., to Rev. Madison Reynolds and Harriett (Dunton) Reynolds. He married Matilda P. Over on June 22, 1946, in Hagerstown, Md. She survives of the home.

Judge Reynolds served in the United States Army during World War II in the Philippines beginning in 1943, and was honorably discharged at the rank of Master Sergeant in 1946. His service decorations include the Asiatic Pacific Service Medal, The Philippine Liberation Ribbon with Bronze Star and the World War II Victory Medal. He served two terms as Greenwood County Attorney in Eureka, Kan., and served for 17 years as district judge in the 13th Judicial District in Butler, Greenwood, Elk and Chautauqua counties.

In addition to his wife Matilda, he is also survived by a daughter, Dr. Sylvia Eckes and husband Alfred of University Park, Fla.; six sons, Mark Reynolds and wife Virginia of Wheaton, Ill., Dr. Nathaniel Reynolds and wife Charlene of Haven, Kan., Daniel Reynolds and wife Carol of Wichita, Kan., Eric Reynolds and wife Nancy of Overland Park, Kan., Zackery Reynolds and wife Leslie of Fort Scott, Kan., and Aaron Reynolds of Union, Wash.; 11 grandchildren, and one great-grandchild.

Services will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Friday, June 20, 2014 with interment to follow at the Fort Scott National Cemetery pavilion, Fort Scott, Kan., with full military honors conducted at the cemetery by the Olson-Frary-Burkhart Post 1165 Veterans of Foreign Wars Memorial Detail. Services are under the direction of the Konantz-Cheney funeral Home, 15 W. Wall Street, Fort Scott, Kan.
