Laura E. Miller

Laura E. Miller, age 84, a resident of Fort Scott, Kan., died Friday, June 6, 2014, at the Mercy Hospital in Fort Scott. Laura was born May 17, 1933 in Bartlesville, Okla., the daughter of Coleman Eden and Belva Edwards Eden. She married Frank Miller on May 25, 1951, in Fort Scott. He died Oct. 1, 2009. Laura had worked as the administrator of Oak Ridge Nursing Home for several years. Later she owned and operated the Treasure Barn and then Miller's Used Furniture all the while serving as bookkeeper for Miller's Tree Service. Laura was a wonderful mother and grandmother who enjoyed spending time with family.
Survivors include her four children; Frank "Tink" Miller and wife, Bobby Ann, Fort Scott, George Miller and wife, Susan, Eudora, Kan., Anna Miller, Fort Scott and Doug Miller and wife, Tammy, Fort Scott; six grandchildren; Thabena Bower and husband, Jason, Frank Lynn Miller and wife, Shana, Robert, Daniel, Clayton and Colee Miller; and nine great-grandchildren; Luke, Tori, Tanner, Frank Alan, Micala, Preslee, Payton, Jaxon and Rivver. Also surviving are two sisters, Berniece Stone and husband, Gary, Wichita, Kansas and Patsy Sanders, Fort Scott. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a brother, Floyd Eden; a sister, Pearline Thurston and a great-great-grandson, Andrew David Lynn Aerts.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday June 10 at the Cheney Witt Chapel. Burial will follow in the Lath Branch Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday at the Cheney Witt Chapel. Memorials are suggested to Care to Share and may be left in care of the Cheney Witt Chapel, 201 S. Main, P.O.
