Michael Wayne Gilchrist

Michael Wayne Gilchrist, age 60, a resident of Fort Scott, Kan., died Thursday, May 22, 2014, at the North Kansas City Hospital. He was born July 21, 1953, in Kansas City, Mo., the son of James Richard Gilchrist and Marjorie May Pippin Gilchrist. In addition to farming and raising cattle, Michael had owned and operated a feed store in Blue Mound, Kan. He was a member of Community Christian Church.

Survivors include a son, Richard James Gilchrist, Ocheyedan, Iowa; four grandchildren, Winter Faith Gilchrist, Richard James Gilchrist, Jr., Joseph Shane Gilchrist and Jason R. Gilchrist. Also surviving is a sister, Patricia Ann Williams, Dearborn, Mo. He was preceded in death by a son, Michael Shane Gilchrist, his parents, a brother, James Russell Gilchrist and a sister, Sherri Lynn Atkins.

There was cremation. Rev. Kevin Moyers will conduct a memorial service at 1:30 p.m. Friday, May 30 at the Community Christian Church.
