Cheri Sue Smith

Cheri Sue Smith, of Mound City, Kan., passed away on May 14 after a short battle with cancer. She will be deeply missed by her friends, her family, and her community. Smith was most proud of having raised her loving children and her loving children through marriage. She lived a proud and strong life; loving music, loving the Lord, and happy to have found true love.

In 1990, Smith opened and produced the successful Flint Hills Opry in Burlington, Kan. She was selected as Burlington's Businesswoman of the Year in 1992. She also wrote and produced country music shows in both Fort Scott and Blue Mound. Smith was a card-carrying member of the Country Music Association. Her talent and wit will be missed by country music.

Smith is survived by loving husband Larry Smith; children: MGySgt Christopher Wright, Jennifer Archer, Chely Wright, and Larry Smith Jr; 22 grandchildren; and sisters Charlene Daniels of Belton, Mo., and Diane Bauer of Webster Groves, Mo.

A memorial service will be held at New Life Community Church in Gardner, Kan., on Wednesday, May 21, at 11 a.m.
