Debra June Wheeler
Debra June Wheeler, age 43, a resident of rural Fort Scott, Kan., died unexpectedly Sunday, April 13, 2014, at the Fort Scott Mercy Hospital Emergency Room. She was born Nov. 25, 1970, in Iowa, the daughter of Dennis Webster and Dyann Needham Webster. Debra married Shawn Wheeler on April 25, 1992, at the Hiattville United Methodist Church in Hiattville, Kan. For the last several years, Debra has worked in Tech Support for Cigna. She appreciated her life in the country where she enjoyed gardening, fishing, watching birds and raising chickens and goats.
Survivors include her husband, Shawn and her son, Luke, both of the home; a brother, Daniel Webster and wife, Melinda, Charleston, S.C.; her step-father, Charles Richards, Red Oak, Iowa; mother-in-law, Sandra Wheeler, Girard, Kan.; an aunt, Shirley Frey, Oskaloosa, Iowa and a cousin, Heidi of Wisconsin. Also surviving are Luke's friends, Richard Rhodes, Anthony Myers and Dakota Suskey who spent many hours with Debra and her family. She was preceded in death by her parents.
There was cremation. Rev. Chuck Russell will conduct a memorial service at 2 p.m. Friday, April 18 at the Cheney Witt Chapel. Memorials are suggested to the Audubon Society and may be left in care of the Cheney Witt Chapel, 201 S. Main, P.O. Box 347, Ft. Scott, KS 66701.
