Girard takes two from Tiger JV

Girard took both ends of a doubleheader from the Fort Scott High JV softball team at Fisher Park Friday evening, taking the first game 14-10 and the second 14-4.

The only half inning without a score in the opener was the bottom of the fifth. The Trojans led 6-4 after two and 11-6 after three.

The Tigers had 9 hits. Lindsey McNeil had 3 hits, and 2 runs batted and scored twice. Abi Keating had 2 hits and score 2 runs. Kassie Soltren had 2 hits and drove in 2 runs.

Meghan Guss pitched every inning, allowing 7 earned runs on 15 hits. She didn't walk anyone and struck out 5.

Girard scored at least 2 runs in every inning of game two. Fort Scott had 5 hits, one each by Guss, McNeil, Soltren, Emily Hale and Skylar Winningham.

The JV's next games will be April 25 at Pittsburg with the opener starting at 3:30. This doubleheader was postponed Monday.
