JV tennis sees first action of season

PITTSBURG -- Fort Scott High School's junior varsity tennis team saw its first action of the season here Thursday in a round-robin tournament.

There were No. 1 and No. 2 singles pools but only one doubles pool as only two schools had a No. 2 doubles team ready to play.

Kyle Primeaux had the best day of the Tigers, going 2-1 in the No. 2 singles pool. He beat Payton Cranor of Chanute, 6-2, and Jack Warring of Pittsburg White, 6-1. Montana Jajo of Pittsburg Purple scored a 6-4 win over Primeaux.

Jacob Bailey was 1-2 in No. 1 singles. He defeated Trysten Lewis of Pittsburg White, 6-3, and lost to Caleb Jones of Chanute, 6-4, and Zach Dee of Pittsburg Purple, 6-2.

Vandaro Chit and Levi Reichard played five matches in the combined doubles pool. They were 0-5 on the day. Trey Eustice and Christian Vilamar of Chanute took a 6-1 win. Alex Moran and Grayson Johnson, also of Chanute, claimed a 6-0 decision. Dakota Lloyd and Caleb Dial of Pittsburg White won 6-3. And both Pittsburg Purple teams, one with Jared Wilde and Will Jewett, the other with Cach Stewart and Ryan Newcomb, took 6-0 verdicts.

The Tiger JV's next scheduled outing is April 11 at Nevada.
