Edward Irvine Blincoe, Sr.

Edward Irvine Blincoe, Sr., 88, formerly of Fort Scott, passed away Dec. 17, 2013 in Denver, Colo. He was born Oct. 2, 1925 in Fort Scott, Kan., the son of Ernest Edward and Francis (Irvine) Blincoe. He married Betty Burns Armstrong Nov. 25, 1949 in Hutchinson, Kan., and she survives of the home.

Edward served in the U.S. Navy during WWII from May of 1943 until June of 1946. He graduated from Kansas University in 1949, and was a petroleum engineer for many years, living in Kansas, Texas, Oklahoma and Colorado.

In addition to his wife Betty, Edward is survived by his children, Edward Blincoe, Jr. of Denver, Colo., William A. Blincoe MD, of Atlanta, Ga., Melissa Blincoe of Denver, Colo., and Jane Blincoe Coulter of Highland Ranch, Colo.; seven grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Helen Blincoe Simpson.

Following cremation, the family will hold graveside services 1:30 p.m. Monday, March 31, 2014 at the Fort Scott National Cemetery, under the direction of the Konantz-Cheney Funeral Home, 15 West Wall Street, Fort Scott, KS 66701. Military Honors conducted at the cemetery by the Olson-Frary-Burkhart Post 1165 Veterans of Foreign Wars Memorial Detail. Condolences may be emailed to expressions@konantz-cheney.com.
