UPDATED: Greyhounds roll in first round of Nationals

DANVILLE, Ill. -- Sophomore forward Prince Samuels scored a career-high 31 points here Wednesday afternoon as unseeded Fort Scott Community College upset fourth-seeded South Suburban, Ill., 77-59, in the first round of the NJCAA Division II National Basketball Tournament.

The Greyhounds (15-16), who have won six games in a row, will play a quarterfinal game against Phoenix (Ariz.) at 8:30 p.m. Thursday night. The fifth-seeded Bears (25-8) dominated unseeded Lake Michigan, 70-48, in the final game of the first round.

Fort Scott took the lead with 9:44 left in the first half when Dontae Johnson converted a 3-point play to make it 14-12. The Greyhounds never trailed again and led by as much as 20 in the second half.

Kevin House added 21 points for Fort Scott, which held the Bulldogs (28-6) to 34-percent field-goal shooting.
