Robert Guy Olney, Jr.

Robert Guy Olney, Jr., age 66, resident of Fort Scott, Kan., died Friday, March 7, 2014, at the Landmark Hospital, Joplin, Mo. He was born Sept. 28, 1947, in Bartlesville, Okla., the son of Robert Guy Olney, Sr. and Helen Puckett Olney. He married Claudia Marie Wright in 1966 in Iola, Kan. They lived and raised their family in Iola until they were divorced in 1986. Robert later moved to Fort Scott. He greatly enjoyed his time visiting with friends and neighbors at the Highrise on Scott Avenue.

Suvivors include a son, Kelly Olney and wife Becky Dagit, Columbia, Mo.; a daughter, Peppi Olney, San Diego, Calif.; a brother, Richard Olney and wife Rhonda, Lindsay, Okla.; three sisters, Rosa Cartright, Las Vegas, Nev., Rita Tanner, San Diego, Calif., and Rega Jane Olney, Topeka, Kan.; three grandchildren; six great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a brother, Raymond Lowry; a sister, Lola Lowry; and his parents.

Graveside services will be held at 12:00 noon Tuesday, March 11th, in the Highland Cemetery, Iola, Kansas. The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. until leaving for the cemetery at 10:45.
