Top-seed Sedan prevails, 62-44
YATES CENTER -- Top-seeded Sedan brought an end to the season for Uniontown's girls here Thursday night, defeating the fourth-seeded Eagles, 62-44, in the semifinals of the Yates Center Class 2A Sub-State Tournament.
Both teams played for the second consecutive day as Uniontown beat Oxford by one point at home Wednesday night while Sedan rolled by eighth-seeded Oswego by almost 40 points.
The Blue Devils (18-4) led 14-8 after one period of play. They outscored the Eagles 22-7 in the second quarter. After three, the score was 57-33 in Sedan's favor.
Jessica Farra led the Eagles (11-11) with 13 points, 7 rebounds, 4 assists and 2 blocks. Emily Shinn added 12 points and had 3 steals.
Zoe Pray and Alexis Haughn each scored 14 points for Sedan while Kaiman Smith added 10.
Sedan will play third-seeded Colgan (14-8) in the Sub-State final Saturday night at 6 p.m. The Panthers defeated second-seeded Pleasanton, 53-36, in Thursday's first semifinal game.
