Loy Pearl Holland
Loy Pearl Holland, 92, St. Joseph, Mo., passed away Saturday, March 1, 2014, at Shepherd's Residential Care Facility.
Loy was born in Ness County, Kan., on Jan. 28, 1922, to Walter Harry and Nellie (McCubbin) Schamaun.
She married Edwin Burns Holland on May 16, 1943 in Fort Scott, Kan. He passed away on April 28, 2002. She was also preceded in death by her parents; siblings, Thelma Spence, Mayme Amstutz and Duane Schamaun; one niece, Patricia Cooper Jacobs and one nephew, Robert Spence.
Loy was a homemaker and active in her Church, Trinity Presbyterian Church where she served as a deacon, church historian and sang in the choir.
Survivors include children, Cheryll (Al) Dawson and Margie Holland, St. Joseph, Mo.; Thomas (Edie) Holland, Kansas City, Mo., and David (Jeannette) Holland, St. Joseph, Mo.; sisters, Mary Lou Cooper, Oak Harbor, Wash., Ceola Tischler, Inman, Kan., Nellie Moore, Aurora, Colo., and Lela McQuinn, Kansas City, Mo.; numerous nieces and great-nieces; nephews and great-nephews; four step-grandchildren, Elorie (Charles) Boeh, Kolyn Pritchett, Heidi Vandawalker, Brian (Sarah) Dillard and ten step-great-grandchildren.
Services are at 11 a.m. Friday at Heaton-Bowman-Smith & Sidenfaden Chapel, St. Joseph. Interment Mt. Auburn Cemetery.
Visitation will begin after noon Thursday at the Chapel. The family will receive friends 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday evening.
The family suggests memorial contributions to the Salvation Army, American Red Cross or Open Door Food Kitchen.
