A Fort Scott teen was injured in a one-vehicle rollover accident Friday afternoon north of Fort Scott.

According to a Kansas Highway Patrol report, 15-year-old Krista Leighann Simpson, of Fort Scott, was hurt in the accident, which took place about 3:30 p.m. Friday on 195th Street, about 250 feet north of Soldier Road or just over two miles west of U.S. Highway 69 near Hammond.

Simpson, who was driving a 1986 Toyota pickup west on Soldier Road, turned north onto 195th Street and lost control of the vehicle. The pickup slid into the west ditch and rolled one revolution, coming to rest on its tires, the KHP report said.

Simpson, who was wearing a seat belt at the time of the accident, was taken to Mercy Hospital with injuries. The extent of her injuries was not available as of press time.

A passenger in the vehicle, Tyler Cole Simpson, 16, also of Fort Scott, was not injured in the accident. He was also wearing a seat belt during the crash.

Agencies responding to the accident included KHP, the Bourbon County Sheriff's Department, Mercy EMS and area fire departments.

The pickup was towed from the scene.
