Johnson County's basketball teams braved icy roads to come down and sweep Fort Scott Community College in a doubleheader that counted both in Jayhawk Conference play and toward Region VI-Division II post-season tournament seeding.

No. 1-ranked Johnson County's women took out some frustration on the Greyhounds after suffering their first loss of the season to No. 5 Highland on Wednesday night. The Cavaliers went out to a 23-1 lead in the first eight minutes on their way to a 94-43 rout.

Johnson County's men completed the sweep by beating Fort Scott, 61-53.

Greyhound women (0-2 division, 0-4 region, 8-15 overall) trailed 45-15 at the half. Johnson County (2-1, 3-1, 22-1) began the second half with a 10-1 run and also scored 15 straight midway through the second half to make it 75-28.

Jessica McAdams led Fort Scott with 9 points. Kariel Hutt scored 22 points on 10-for-10 field-goal shooting and grabbed 21 rebounds to lead Johnson. Kalsey Barrett added another 22 points. Sameia Kendall chipped in with 17 points.

Johnson County's men (2-1, 3-1, 7-16) held off an early Fort Scott rally to lead 29-16 with about eight minutes left in the first half. The Cavaliers led 37-29 at the half and each team scored 24 points in the second half.

Fort Scott (1-1, 1-3, 7-15), which has lost three straight since beating Highland in its district opener, got only 5 points from its bench, all by Dontae Johnson. Will Harrington led the Greyhounds with 15 points followed by Mabor Gabriel with 13 and Kevin House with 12.

Preston Oakes led Johnson County with 17 points followed by Trevor Myers with 13 an Zach Nelson with 12.

Fort Scott will host Kansas City in a conference/region doubleheader Wednesday at 5:30. KCK's women are ranked No. 16 nationally in Division II.
