Tiger freshmen girls win four of first five

Fort Scott High School's freshman girls' basketball team has started the season off well, winning four of its first five games.

The Tigers defeated Labtte County at home on December 13 by a score of 46-38. Karlee Stanley led Fort Scott with 14 points that night followed by Emily Hale with 11 and Kelsey Carpenter with 10.

On January 7, the Tigers beat Pittsburg, 30-24, after holding the Purple Dragons to just 5 points in the second half. Hale scored 15 points to lead Fort Scott.

On January 10, the Tigers lost to Independence, 36-29. Stanley led with 8 points.

Tuesday night, Fort Scott's freshmen played their first road game and downed Chanute, 36-27. Stanley scored 15 points while Hale grabbed 15 rebounds.

Thursday night, the Tigers beat Girard at home, 34-10. Hale led with 14 points and Stanley added to.

The Tigers will play Monday at 5:30 in the first round of the freshmen tournament in the FSHS gymnasium. The finals will be played January 27.
