Pittsburg sweeps FSMS
Fort Scott Middle School's boys basketball teams each opened their seasons Thursday night with home games against Pittsburg. But the visiting Purple Dragons won all four games played on the night.
Pittsburg won the seventh-grade "A" game, 34-20, and the "B" game, 40-18. The Dragons took the eighth-grade "A" game, 33-26, and won the "B" game, 30-10.
Seventh-grade "B".
Pittsburg led just 9-8 after one period but steadily increased the margin. The Dragons led 22-12 at the half and 29-14 after three.
Alec Michaud and Cade Gosewich each scored 6 points to lead the Tigers. Dalton Colvin had 5 rebounds.
Ben Boekhout led Pittsburg with 12 points and Dylan White added 15.
Seventh-grade "A".
Pittsburg led this game 13-5 at halftime after allowing only one points in the second quarter. Braden Shelton led Fort Scott with 9 points. Zach Sutton scored 15 for the Dragons.
Eighth-grade "B".
The Dragons posted shutouts in the first and third quarters and allowed just 2 in the fourth. The Tigers trailed 11-8 at the half but were outscored 11-0 in the third period.
Caleb Rhoades and Andrew Callahan each scored 4 points for the Tigers. Cade Southard led Pittsburg with 8 points.
Eighth-grade "A".
Fort Scott led 7-6 after one quarter. But Pittsburg outscored the Tigers 13-8 in the second to take a 19-15 lead into the locker room.
Jesse Jones led Fort Scott with 11 points. Drew Roelfs paced Pittsburg with 10.
Zarek Fewell hauled down 7 rebounds to lead the Tigers.
Fort Scott's seventh- and eighth-grade "A" teams play at Jayhawk Junior High at Mound City Monday night. The first game will tip off at 5:30 p.m.
