This month's commodities arrived at the Bourbon County Senior Citizens site Wednesday. Between 110 and 115 households receive the commodities each month, according to Jacqueline Sellers, Senior Center coordinator. This month's allotment, which will be distributed today, is slightly less than normal, but that's because commodities were delivered in December, a month when the center typically doesn't receive the food, Sellers said.

When the truck arrives, the City of Fort Scott provides the manpower and equipment to unload the pallets. Volunteers from Moran, Prescott, Redfield, Bronson, Iola, La Cynge and Mound City pick up commodities for those communities and the rest is taken into the Center.
