Betty Pearl Sackett

Betty Pearl Sackett, 72, of Fort Scott, died Sunday evening, Dec. 8, 2013 at the Fort Scott Manor Nursing Home. She was born Jan. 26, 1941 in Fort Scott, Kan., the daughter of Clarence Barton and Mary Jane (Crystal) Sackett.

Betty earned her Master's degree from Pittsburg State in teaching and taught college English at Bible Baptist College in Springfield, Mo., for many years.

Survivors include her sisters, Dorothy Todd of Fort Scott, Kan., Lorrene Henningsen, also of Fort Scott, Kan., Pansy Hill of Wichita, Kan., Bonnie Reid of Topeka, Kan., and Frances Brillhard, also of Topeka, Kan.; her brothers, LeRoy Sackett of Fort Scott, Kan., William "Bill" Sackett of Rocky Ford, Colo., Kenneth Sackett of Benton, Kan., and George Sackett of Olathe, Kan.; and several nieces and nephews.

Rev. Terry Brillhart and Rev. Robert Reid will conduct graveside services 11 a.m. Friday, Dec. 13, 2013 at the Large/Pleasant View Cemetery in Arcadia, Kan., under the direction of the Konantz-Cheney Funeral Home. Friends and family will meet at the funeral home at 10 a.m. and leave for the cemetery at 10:30 a.m. Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association and left in the care of the Konantz-Cheney Funeral Home, 15 W.
