'Hound men drop pair in KC
KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- Fort Scott Community College's men's basketball team dropped a pair of games here over the weekend and fell to 4-7 on the season. The Greyhounds have lost three straight games going into a Tuesday night contest at Allen.
Former Jayhawk Conference divisional foe Labette defeated Fort Scott Friday night, 78-73, on the first night of the Penn Valley Classic. Kevin House scored 21 points for the Greyhounds and also led with 9 rebounds and 7 assists.
Prince Samuels and Mabor Gabriel each scored 16 points for the 'Hounds, who shot 46 percent from the field, making 24 of 55 field-goal attempts. They made just 2 of 12 3-point shots and 23 of 35 free throws, 66 percent.
Saturday, Fort Scott fell to host Penn Valley, 71-61. Samuels scored 11 points and also had a team-high 7 rebounds. Will Harrington added 13 points and House chipped in with 11 points and 6 assists.
Fort Scott was outrebounded, 31-21. The Greyhounds shot 42 percent from the floor on 20 of 48, 25 percent from triple territory on 5 of 20 and just 62 percent from the free-throw line on 16 of 26.
Fort Scott hosts former division foe Neosho County Saturday afternoon at 2 p.m. at Arnold Arena. Monday night, the Central Christian junior varsity will visit for a 7:30 p.m. tip off that will follow at 5:30 contest between Fort Scott's women and Neosho County.
NOTES --Fort Scott's women also played Allen Tuesday night and will play at Cottey at 6 p.m. Friday night in the Hinkhouse Center in Nevada. The Greyhounds (5-3) haven't played since losing at Neosho County on November 20....
