Loyd Alton Ivey, Jr.
Loyd Alton Ivey, Jr., age 60, resident of Fort Scott, Kan., died Thursday, Oct. 17, 2013, at Fort Scott Manor. He was born May 24, 1953, in Silome Springs, Ark., the son of Loyd Alton Ivey, Sr. and Barbara Davis Ivey. He graduated from Fort Scott High School with the class of 1971. He married Cherylain Davidson on March 6, 1971. They later divorced. He married Martha Kuns on Nov. 18, 1988. They later divorced. Loyd worked for Midwestern Distribution, drove for the U.S. Postal Service, worked construction, carpentry, and for Value Merchandisers. He also worked for Lifetouch as a photographer. He enjoyed hunting and fishing. He was an avid Yankees baseball fan who loved Elvis music.
Survivors include two daughters, Stacey Culpepper, Olathe, Kan., and Jessica Bables and husband Juluis, Girard, Kan.; a brother, John Ivey and wife Teresa, Wichita, Kan.; a sister, Sharon Button, Fort Scott; his mother, Barbara Ivey, Fort Scott; three grandchildren, Joseph "Wayne" Culpepper, Allison Culpepper, Domonic Bables, and one on the way; as well as several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Loyd Ivey, Sr.; and two brothers, Roger Dale Ivey and Randy Joe Ivey.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 23, at the Cheney Witt Chapel. Burial will follow in the Evergreen Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. Tuesday evening at the Chapel. Memorials are suggested to the Loyd Ivey, Jr. Memorial Fund and may be left in care of the Cheney Witt Chapel, P.O. box 347, 201 S. Main, Fort Scott, Kansas 66701.
