Some not so famous local artists -- and some who aren't even artists -- gathered at Buck Run Community Center Wednesday to let their creative sides shine.

They are participating in the Bourbon County Art Council's fundraising project, "Bad Art by Good People."

Members of the community have the opportunity to work with instructors or on their own to create artwork, which will be auctioned off Oct. 10 at the Ellis Fine Arts Center with proceeds benefitting the Arts Council, Debbie Anderson, president of the Arts Council said.

The art sessions began in July and will continue through September. Participants may attend as many sessions as they like.

"This just helps them get started," Anderson said.

Instructors Lynn Barr, Elaine Burgee and Minnie Lou Allen worked with about 12 people Wednesday.

Anderson said details of the auction event are still being worked out, but the evening will include hors d'oeuvres.
