Delma Dorene Wood
Delma Dorene Wood, age 86, Prescott, Kan., passed away Saturday Aug. 3, 2013. She was born at Devon, Kan., on March 6, 1927 the daughter of Durward "Duke" and Hannah Pearl Ballah Brown. She graduated from Prescott High School in the Class of 1943. She married Vergil Leon Wood on June 17, 1944. He preceded her in death on Feb. 15, 1986. She was also preceded in death by a son Kenneth, a brother Gary and sister Juanita. Delma worked as a school teacher in rural Linn County and later as a CNA at the Prescott Country View. She was a member of the Prescott United Methodist Church, UMW, and was involved in the Congregate Meal Program and the Senior Citizens Center at Prescott. She is survived by four sons: Leland, Craig, David, and Kevin Wood, a daughter Carol Majors, three brothers: Gale, Dean and Donnie Brown, eighteen grandchildren: Gerald Wood, Matt Wood, Trevor Majors, Travis Majors, BRyan Wood, Ty Lord, Trenton Wood, Amy Mitchell, Christy Nickelson, Melayna Johnson, Jamie Hall, Lisa Barry, Shelby Brown, Mindy McCall, Leah Wood, Tatum Massoth, Quentin Springer and Charlie Springer, and 30 great grandchildren.
Funeral service will be held 10 a.m. Wednesday Aug. 7, 2013 at the Prescott United Methodist Church. Burial will be in the Prescott Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the Schneider Funeral Home and Crematory, Pleasanton Chapel. The family suggests contributions to Prescott UMW or Delma Wood Memorial Fund.
