Russell Howard Anderson

Russell Howard Anderson, age 82, a resident of Fort Scott, Kan., died Saturday, July 13, 2013, at the Mercy Health Center Emergency Room in Fort Scott. He was born Aug. 30, 1930, in La Cygne, Kan., the son of Clemmit Anderson and Edith Reynolds Anderson. In his earlier years, Howard worked on the family farm. After the death of his parents, Howard lived for a time with his sister and brother-in-law, Betty and Allen Hall. He later lived at the Tri-Valley group home. For the last nine years, he made his home with his nephew Bud Hall and Bud's wife, Kathi. While with Tri-Valley, Howard enjoyed working in the workshop and participating in the Special Olympics. He also enjoyed watching western movies, trading money, shopping, eating out and especially spending time with his family. He attended Community Christian Church.

Survivors include two sisters, Betty Hall of Pittsburg, Kan., and Ruth O'Dell, of Fort Scott, Kan., as well as numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Clarence, James and Henry Anderson and two sisters, Velma Miller and Viola Collins.

Rev. Kevin Moyers will conduct funeral services at 2 p.m. Tuesday, July 16 at the Cheney Witt Chapel. Burial will follow in the Centerville Cemetery.
