Darwin Ray Badders
Darwin Ray Badders, Uniontown, Kan., passed away July 3, 2013. He was born in Bush City, Kan., July 9, 1935, the son of Darwin Dee and Roberta McGinnis Badders. He grew up on a farm near Bush City. He married Pauline Ruth Bruner on April 12, 1955. To this union were born four children. They made their home in Bronson, Kan., for many years. They later divorced. In his earlier years he worked in the oil field, Dawson Produce and Finley Lumber Co. before opening his own business, Badders TV & Appliance in Bronson, which he and Pauline operated for several years. He later worked in carpentry doing barn and home restoration.
He was a 50-year member of Bourbon Masonic Lodge No. 268, a past member of Bronson Ruritan, City Council and Fire Chief for the City of Bronson. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, living in the country, having picnics with his family and fish fries with his friends. His most enjoyment was gardening and giving it to others.
Survivors include two daughters, Ellen Harper and husband David, Diana Huff and husband Dean, of Bronson, Kan.; three sisters Donna Meyer and husband Don, Ottawa, Kan., Deloris Willis and husband Roy, Rio Hondo, Texas, and Norma Tahash, Redding, Calif.; seven brothers Clifford and wife Gypsy, John and Rodney, Ottawa, Kan., Claude, Brighten, Tenn., Gerald, Osawatomie, Kan., Donald and wife Millie, Moran, Kan., and Doug and wife Sherrina, Pratt, Kan.; grandchildren Kyla Crouse, Dustin Huff and wife Angela, Desmond Huff, Danica Huff; step grandchildren Donald Huff and wife Amy, Daniel Huff, Jennifer Gibson and husband Terry, David Harper, Daniel Harper and wife Madgelene, William Harper and Jason Harper. Also surviving are several great-grandchildren, step-great-grandchildren and step-great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, daughter Darlene Ruth, son Darwin Raymond, grandson Jared Badders, and siblings Robert, Joyce, and Ronald.
Graveside Services with Masonic Rites will be held at 1 p.m. July 9, 2013 at the Garnett Cemetery. Memorial contributions can be made to the Darwin Badders Memorial Fund in care of Ellen Harper, PO Box 22, Bronson, KS 66716. Arrangements under the direction of the Konantz-Cheney Funeral Home.
