USD 234 board hires teachers, sets fees

After meeting in executive session to discuss non-elected personnel for an hour and a half, the USD 234 Board of Education returned to open session to act on three items during a special meeting Tuesday afternoon at the district office.
As its first action, the board selected the Kansas Association of School Boards as its carrier for workers compensation insurance for the 2013-14 school year, from July 1 to June 30, 2014. The board voted to select the Kansas Association of School Board's low bid of $102,297, with a per incident deductible of $500. KASB also offered a zero deductible for $107,464 and a $1,000 deductible for $99,175.
