Kevin Ray Wilson
Kevin Ray Wilson, age 50, resident of Fort Scott, died early Tuesday, June 11, 2013, at the Freeman West Hospital in Joplin, Mo. He was born March 6, 1963, in Fort Scott, Kan., the son of Arlie and Wilma Hall Wilson. He graduated from Fort Scott High School with the class of 1981. He married Donna Burnett on April 12, 1986. Kevin worked as the sporting goods department manager for Walmart totaling 34 years. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and enjoyed exposing others to the sport. He loved his Body by Vi family, including trips and conventions. Spending time with his natural family was also very important to him. He was a member of the Community Christian Church.
Survivors include his wife Donna of the home; a son, Nick Wilson, Boston, Mass.; two daughters, Kaitlyn Doherty and husband Andrew, and Kristen Wilson, all of Fort Scott; one brother, Gary Wilson and wife Melanie, Fort Scott; one sister, Connie Wilson and husband Roger, Arma, Kan.; his mother, Wilma Wilson, Fort Scott; three grandchildren, Landon and Eisley Doherty, and Braden Coday; several nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews; as well as his in-laws Belinda and Mike Richardson, and Fred and Janice Burnett.
He was preceded in death by his father, Arlie Wilson; step father-in-law Jim Goddard; and his grandparents.
Rev. Kevin Moyers will conduct funeral services at 2:30 p.m. Friday, June 14, at the Community Christian Church. Burial will follow in the Evergreen Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. Thursday, at the Cheney Witt Chapel. Memorials are suggested to either Community Christian Church or the American Heart Association and may be left in care of the Cheney Witt Chapel, P.O. Box 347, 201 S. Main, Fort Scott, Kansas 66701.
