FSCC trustees taking time to decide on allowing firearms on campus

Wednesday, May 22, 2013

The Fort Scott Community College Board of Trustees wants more time to study recently-enacted state legislation that allows conceal-carry licensees to carry their guns into public buildings.

During their regular monthly meeting on Monday, trustees unanimously approved a resolution to House Bill 2052. The resolution allows the college to maintain its current policy of not allowing firearms on the campus while trustees study the law and also the feasibility of implementing security measures.

Without the resolution, House Bill 2052 would mean conceal-carry licensees would be allowed to carry firearms onto the campus and inside buildings.
