Wheeler medals at league

MOUND CITY -- Uniontown's Jonathon Wheeler finished 10th here Monday to earn a medal in the Three Rivers League Golf Tournament at Sugar Valley Golf Course.

Wheeler shot 45 on the front nine and 49 on the back to post a season-varsity-best score of 94.

Rece Dawson of Jayhawk-Linn lead his team to a team title with a 43-39--82 that led all individuals. The Jayhawks shot 359 as a team and had four medalists.

Uniontown placed fifth as a team, shooting 429. Austin Jefferis shot 56-50--106 for the Eagles followed by Brenton Esslinger at 52-61--113, Nick Reynolds 61-55--116 and Jay Heirholzer 72-72--144.

Phillip Moses of Chetopa was the individual runner up at 43-44--87 with Pleasanton's Matt Bauer third at 47-43--90.

Chetopa was the second-place team with a 391 followed by Oswego at 408.

Uniontown will host a Class 2-1A Regional Monday at Woodland Hills Golf Course in Fort Scott.
