Casino Night fundraiser raked in more dough than last year's even
Early figures show that Fort Scott Community College raked in thousands of dollars to benefit student scholarships during last Saturday's "Casino Night"-themed Endowment Scholarship Auction on the FSCC campus.
According to preliminary numbers provided by FSCC Director of Development and Alumni Relations Gary Palmer, the annual event, which took place for the first time at the Danny and Willa Ellis Family Fine Arts Center, brought in between $16,000 and $16,500 before expenses.
Palmer said he expects totals after expenses to be between $12,000 and $12,500. He said he is "pretty confident" more money was raised this year than at last year's event, which indicated more than $16,000 was raised for student scholarships. Last year, attendance and auction proceeds were nearly double that of the previous year.
