PARSONS -- A 2-3 finish at the Labette County Invitational has a Fort Scott duo sitting 1-2 in Southeast Kansas League golf standings following the second of four league designated tournaments at Parsons Country Club here Thursday.

Jonathan Allen and Conner Antonetti each shot identical scores -- 40 on the front nine, 38 on the back for totals of 78 -- in the LCHS tourney. Allen won the scorecard playoff and took second place with Antonetti awarded third. They finished one stroke being Labette County's Austin Krewson, who shot 39-38--77.

"In general both struck the ball well, had some difficulty around the greens, but hung in there well to compete against the field," Fort Scott head coach Ken Klassen said.

Antonetti now sits on top of the league standings after two tournaments with a total score of 157. Allen is 2 strokes behind at 159. The top 10 individuals after the four tournaments will receive First Team All-SEK honors. The next 10, including ties, will receive Honorable Mention status.

Labette County won the tournament team title with a four-man score of 319 and passed Independence to move into first place in the league. Fort Scott finished second at 328 while Independence shot 329.

Indy dropped to second in the league standings. Labette County's score after two tourneys is 655 while Independence's is 661. Fort Scott remains in third place at 679 and Coffeyville retained fourth place at 702.

"The 328 total and second-place finish, I hope, will provide a boost of confidence as we go into the last two weeks of the season prior to the Regional, which will be a return to the KATY Golf Course at Parsons," Klassen said.

The KATY course is where Parsons hosted the first SEK designated tournament on Monday.

Completing the Tigers' four-man score were Dane Ramsey with a season-best 43-43--86 and Tucker Horn, who also recorded a season-best score of 41-45--86.

"Dane and Tucker taking about 10 strokes off their previous tournament score was a welcome sight." Klassen said. "Tucker struck the ball very well, and when he improves his chipping and putting, he too may dip into the 70's. Dane's improved steadily over his three years on the squad; he and I both were pleased with his round yesterday."

Anthony Sercer shot 47-43--90 for Fort Scott and Clayton Hixson scored 54-49--103. Both were also season-best scores.

In league standings, Horn is currently 17th with a total of 181. Ramsey is tied with Coffeyville's Tucker Garrison and Kenton Blaich for 18th with scores of 182. Sercer is 24th at 187 and Hixson is 30th at 209.

The next outing for the Tigers is the third league tournament at Coffeyville. Play begins at 3 p.m. Tuesday.
