Eugene Ware students to perform at Friday Night Concert downtown

Thursday, April 25, 2013

The combined fourth and fifth grade select choirs at Eugene Ware Elementary School will perform at 7 p.m. Friday at the Heritage Park Pavilion at the corner of First and Main streets.

The choir, consisting of about 70 students, has put in some hard work in preparation for this performance, Eugene Ware Music Teacher Sandy Hemphill said in an e-mail.

Hemphill said this will be the first time all year the two choirs have joined in a presentation so attendees should be prepared for an outstanding program. The students will perform a variety of songs, including a version of "Yankee Doodle,' "Blues," "Jazz," and "Somebody Stole My Cow."

The concert will last about 45 minutes to one hour. In the event of inclement weather, the concert will take place inside La Hacienda Restaurant, located across from the pavilion at 22 S. Main St.

The concert is part of the Friday Night Concert Series sponsored by the Fort Scott Area Chamber of Commerce and is free and open to the public. Attendees should bring lawn chairs as seating will be limited.
