William Louis "Louie" Pool

William Louis "Louie" Pool, age 87, a former resident of Bronson, Kan., died Monday, April 15 at the Allen County Hospital Emergency Room. He was born Dec. 31, 1925 in Bourbon County, Kan., the son of Pearl Arthur Pool and Edith Perry Pool. Louis was a graduate of Bronson High School. He married Norma Elaine Johnson on April 19, 1944 in Bronson. She preceded him in death on May 8, 2004. Louie retired in 1982 as the Bronson Post Master. He served in the United States Army during WWII. He was a member of the Bronson United Methodist Church. He had received his 60-year pin as a member of the Bronson Order of Eastern Star Chapter No. 65, 60-year-plus member of the Bronson Mason Lodge No. 268, Fort Scott Scottish Rite and the Mirza Shrine Temple of Pittsburg. He was also a member of the Bronson Ruritan.

Survivors include two sons, Mike Pool and wife Patty and Steve Pool, all of Fort Scott. Also surviving are four grandchildren, Brian Pool, Brent Pool, Tanya Hamel and Suzann Pool and seven great-grandchildren. In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by a sister Mildred Harclerode.

Rev. Jim Stigall will conduct funeral services at 10 a.m. Saturday in the Bronson United Methodist Church. Eulogy will be given by Chub Bolling. Burial will follow in the Bronson Cemetery with Masonic graveside rites by the Bronson Masonic Lodge. The family will receive friends Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Cheney Witt Bronson Chapel.
