OTTAWA -- Fort Scott Community College swept the Ottawa University junior varsity in a doubleheader here Monday. These games were originally scheduled for Tuesday but moved up to avoid the possibility of a rainout.

Fort Scott (29-12) took the first game 4-3 and the nightcap 10-4.

Full stats are not available for the first game. It is known that Joe Hermsen was 3 for 4, driving in 2 runs and scoring twice. One of his hits was a double. Sam Gilbert, Zach Taylor and Doug Jenkins had 2 hits each and Josh Griffith drove in 2 runs.

The second game has more detail. The Braves led 4-2 after 5 innings but the Greyhounds scored 5 runs in the sixth and 3 in the seventh.

FSCC belted out 16 hits. Gilbert was 3 for 5 while Hermsen, Griffith, Taylor, John Morey and Parker O'Dell each had 2.

O'Dell also drove in 5 runs, including all 3 in the seventh with a double.

Weather permitting, the Greyhounds will host a single game this afternoon at 2 p.m. at Lions Field against Crowder (Mo.), the No. 1-ranked team in the NJCAA Division I poll. This game was originally scheduled for february 21.

If Wednesday's game can't be played, the 'Hounds will host Jayhawk Conference-Eastern Division doubleheaders at 1 p.m. Saturday and Sunday against Highland. There are eight conference games remaining in the regular season as Fort Scott looks to pass Coffeyville for second place in the division and gain home-field advantage for Region VI Sub-Regional Tournament play.
