OSWEGO -- Uniontown High School's track team finally got a chance to compete as the make-up of the Oswego Invitational was held here Thursday.

The Eagles' first two events of the season were postponed due to bad weather. With this one made up, the other meet at Altoona-Midway will be held April 30.

Despite the nearly three-week delay to the start of the season, head coach Jackie Hall was pleased with her team's performances.

"Our kids performed well," Hall said. "It gives us a good starting point to see where we are at and where we need to get to. Although we didn't bring home a lot of medals, we had athletes placing and scoring points in their respective events."

Leading the girls' squad, Abby Dixon won three medals, winning discus with an effort of 90 feet, 9 inches. She also finished second in shot put and third in javelin. Da'Nisha Robinson won shot put with a mark of 35' 8 1/2". Amelia Brown was the winner in javelin with a throw of 87' 4".

Jana Wilkinson was third in the 800-meter run and Sarah Townsend was third in discus. Fourth-place finishers were Aleah Sutterby in shot and javelin, Hannah Fry in discus, and Rachel Henderson in the 3,200 meters. There were not any fifth- or sixth-place finishers for the girls' team.

The boys' team didn't have any event winners. Montana Beerbower had the highest finish with a second-place effort in the 3,200 meters. He was also fifth in the 1.600.

Austin Ehrman was third in triple jump and sixth in the 1,600. Josh Wisely was third in the 100-meter dash and fifth in the 200.

Fourth-place finishers were Trenton Miller in discus, John Reed in long jump, Zach Davis in triple jump, Gavin Miller in the 300-meter hurdles and the 4x100-meter relay team of Davis, G.Miller, Wisely and Reed). Reed placed fifth in the 100-meter dash. Shawn Wisely was sixth in javelin. G.Miller took sixth in the 200 meters. Wade Wisely was sixth in the 300 hurdles.
