After eight weeks of rehearsing, 22 actors from the Fort Scott High School drama department are ready to present "Leaving Iowa" to the community.

Show times are 7 p.m. Friday and Saturday and 1 p.m. Sunday at the high school auditorium.

Written by Tim Clue and Spike Manton, the message has a serious undertone: take no day for granted, according to Patty LaRoche, FSHS drama instructor and play director.

"I read several scripts beginning last summer and continuing through Christmas vacation, and none had what I wanted--the ability to show off the talent of our amazing high school drama students. A few of my director friends mentioned 'Leaving Iowa' and spoke of how many accolades it was receiving across the country. I ordered it, read it, and found myself laughing out loud. I knew it was perfect for us and for our audience. The show is G-rated, but because it moves from the present to the past and back, it is recommended for those over the age of 6," LaRoche said.

Tickets are $6 for adults and $4 for students and are on sale at Country Cupboard and Fort Scott High School.
