ELSMORE -- Elsmore Ruritan Club will sponsor a chili/soup supper Saturday at the Elsmore community building from 5 to 7 p.m. Club members will serve homemade chili along with a variety of homemade soups plus cornbread, crackers, dessert and drink for a free-will donation.

Tickets will be sold for dessert drawings throughout the evening. Monies will go to the club's scholarship fund. Each year the club participates in the Ruritan Build Your Dollars scholarship program. Last year the club awarded more than $1,000 in college scholarships to Elsmore/Savonburg area students.

Elsmore Ruritan Club is a community service club with 29 members. The club supports the Allen County Fair, Marmaton Valley High School organizations, Moran, Bronson, Stark and Savonburg days and youth activities sponsored by law enforcement. The club sponsors Independence Day and Elsmore Day celebrations and a dog/cat vaccination clinic and helps the Humboldt Ministerial Alliance distribute food to area families the fourth Friday of each month in Elsmore.

Members help area residents with tree removal, household chores, building and razing projects and with monetary donation. The club helped develop the city of Elsmore playground and renovation of the community building. Members annually do cleanup of areas around the Bourbon County Lake.

The Elsmore Community Health & Fitness Center is located in the community building and will be open Saturday evening along with the Book Nook which has hundreds of books available free of charge.
