Redfield Ruritan recognizes Uniontown volleyball coach

Redfield Ruritan Club met Jan. 10 in the Redfield United Methodist Church Annex with nine members and two visitors present.

Before the meal, "Skeet" George led the club in singing "America" and Roy Johnson gave the table grace.

Those providing the meal were thanked with applause from the members.

The minutes of the December meeting were approved as read. The treasurer's report was read and a motion was made by Roy Johnson to approve. Lewis Williams seconded and the motion carried.

A Christmas card was read from the Fort Scott Community College Endowment Association.

Eddie Henderson, district leadership development coordinator, from the Elsmore Ruritan Club, installed the 2013 club officers. He also presented Uniontown High School volleyball coach Jackie Hall with a "Ruritan of the Year" award in honor of her service to the club and to her community. Eddie reminded the members that the 2014 National Ruritan Convention will be held in Branson, Mo.

The club will sponsor a pancake breakfast fundraiser Feb. 2 at the Redfield Community Building. Pancakes, sausage, eggs, juice and coffee will be served for a free- will donation. Proceeds from the monthly fundraisers are used for community projects. A chili feed is being planned for March 2.

Club President "Skeet" George announced the Ruritan District Cabinet meeting will be held in Redfield March 10 beginning at 2 p.m.

The club voted on a motion by Lewis Williams and second by Roy Johnson to host the Spring Zone Meeting on March 19.

The meeting adjourned with the members reciting the flag salute.
