Janice Sue Russell
Janice Sue Russell, 70, of Pittsburg, passed away at 7:50 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 5, 2013 at Via Christi Hospital.
She was born Dec. 28, 1942 in Lawrence, Kan., to Herman D. and Lorene M. Green Russell.
She attended Pittsburg schools and graduated from Pittsburg High School in 1961. She attended Kansas State Teacher College (now Pittsburg State University) for two years. She then served in the United States Army for 17 years.
Ms. Russell was employed at Pitt Plastics for 18 years, retiring in 2003.
She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
Sue loved an assortment of dogs, cats, horses, chickens, wolves and any strays she came across. She was an avid sports fan.
Survivors include her brother, James Russell of Dallas, Texas; two sisters, Carolyn Harper of Fort Scott, Kan., and Janet Sincavage of Pineville, La.; many nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and a brother, Wayne Russell. Funeral services will be 2 p.m., Wednesday, Jan. 9, 2013, at the Brenner Mortuary Chapel with Bishop Mark Brown of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints officiating. Burial will follow in the McCune City Cemetery with the military honors conducted by the Kansas National Guard. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service on Wednesday.
